The Friendship of Valerie and Linda

When you lose a spouse and your grandchildren begin to age, you may be wondering how you can find community in the midst of life changes.

At the Bay Village, we understand these sentiments. That’s why we wanted to tell the story of friendship from the perspective of two of our residents to let you know that sometimes all it takes is a leap of faith and a move to Sarasota, FL to meet your new best friend.

Valerie and Linda

Linda’s Experience: As a newer resident at Bay Village, I was nervous about making friendships. My husband had recently passed. I had mostly stayed in New York for the majority of my life. And, I wanted a change of scenery.

I knew I had to move on to my next adventure, but I just didn’t know where. That’s when I started going on tours of different Life Plan Communities.

When I went on my first initial tour at Bay Village in Sarasota, I didn’t know what to expect. But little did I know what an impact the community would have on my life.

The marketing staff was quick to introduce me to another new resident, Valerie, and we quickly bonded. I learned that we both had lived in New York and our grandchildren were around the same age. Because of our commonalities, we’re now inseparable!

We do everything together. We drove to the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, enjoy plays and operas in Sarasota, and are always on the hunt for a new restaurant.

Thank you Bay Village for the treasure of our friendship!
