Frequently Asked Questions
Making the move to a Life Plan Community is a BIG decision. That’s why we’ve laid out some of our most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about life at Bay Village. Click the question to expand the answer.
Will I own my apartment at Bay Village?
No, you are signing a lifecare contract. Though you do not own your apartment, your entrance fee and monthly fees entitle you to enjoy your residence as well as all amenities. When your health declines and additional health care services are needed, your monthly fee will increase depending on the level of care required. To learn more about lifecare please contact a Bay Village sales associate.
Bay Village is a Florida non-profit corporation founded by the Pine Shores Presbyterian Church. What is a non-profit corporation exactly? A non-profit corporation does not have stockholders like a regular corporation. Instead of stockholders, Bay Village has elected directors chosen by members of the Pine Shores Presbyterian Church. The business of Bay Village is conducted under the direction of its voluntary Board of Directors—all of whom serve without pay.
Are any meals covered in the monthly fee?
A dining services minimum is built into the monthly fee of each resident. Every independent living resident pays the same amount for dining services, but any unused portion does not carry over to the following month.
How many guest suites does Bay Village have?
Bay Village has a total of eight guest suites that can be reserved through the front desk reception.
Can guests stay in my apartment?
Of course! We want you to feel at home here at Bay Village. Your guests are welcome to stay with you in your apartment or in one of our guest suites that can be reserved for a fee.
The maximum amount of days a guest can stay is 14 days.
Bay Village permits service animals only with appropriate documentation, though this does not apply to therapy animals.
A resident can be assigned outdoor parking space at no cost. We also offer garage and carport parking for a fee (as available).
Can I have two garage parking spaces?
We can only offer one parking garage space per apartment due to high demand.
Does Bay Village accept long-term care insurance?
Yes. We accept most long-term care policies, but you should contact your insurance company for specific questions.
Do you have a doctor on staff?
Bay Village contracts a medical director that oversees the skilled nursing and assisted living at Bay Village. There is also a nurse practitioner that visits most days of the week.
Can I have the payment for my monthly fee taken directly from my bank account?
Yes. You can set up autopay at the time of closing.
Does your dining program offer vegetarian and gluten-free options?
Yes, on most days. But we are currently building more dining options to make these food options more readily available to those with specific dietary needs!
Do I have to pay property taxes?
Yes. The property tax amount is built into your monthly fee. This amount is for your apartment only not for common spaces or any unoccupied apartments.
Does Bay Village offer any pay-by-month contracts?
Yes. We have a program called the Estate Preservation Program which allows you to pay by the month. It is NOT a lifecare contract. These contracts are limited, so be sure to give us a call to see if we have availability.
What do Bay Village residents do in the event of a hurricane?
Bay Village does not have to evacuate. Our building has Miami-Dade rated hurricane windows, a freshwater well, and generators to power most of the building.
Who decides when it’s time to move to another level of care?
You, your physician, your family, or a designated person will decide.
Is there tipping at Bay Village?
Nope! We don’t expect tips here.
Does Bay Village take over my finances when I move in?
