Frequently Asked Questions

Making the move to a Life Plan Community is a BIG decision. That’s why we’ve laid out some of our most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about life at Bay Village. Click the question to expand the answer.

Will I own my apartment at Bay Village?

No, you are signing a lifecare contract. Though you do not own your apartment, your entrance fee and monthly fees entitle you to enjoy your residence as well as all amenities. When your health declines and additional health care services are needed, your monthly fee will increase depending on the level of care required. To learn more about lifecare please contact a Bay Village sales associate.

Bay Village is a Florida non-profit corporation founded by the Pine Shores Presbyterian Church. What is a non-profit corporation exactly? A non-profit corporation does not have stockholders like a regular corporation. Instead of stockholders, Bay Village has elected directors chosen by members of the Pine Shores Presbyterian Church. The business of Bay Village is conducted under the direction of its voluntary Board of Directors—all of whom serve without pay.

A dining services minimum is built into the monthly fee of each resident. Every independent living resident pays the same amount for dining services, but any unused portion does not carry over to the following month.

Bay Village has a total of eight guest suites that can be reserved through the front desk reception.

Of course! We want you to feel at home here at Bay Village. Your guests are welcome to stay with you in your apartment or in one of our guest suites that can be reserved for a fee.

The maximum amount of days a guest can stay is 14 days.

Bay Village permits service animals only with appropriate documentation, though this does not apply to therapy animals.

A resident can be assigned outdoor parking space at no cost. We also offer garage and carport parking for a fee (as available).

We can only offer one parking garage space per apartment due to high demand.

Yes. We accept most long-term care policies, but you should contact your insurance company for specific questions.

Bay Village contracts a medical director that oversees the skilled nursing and assisted living at Bay Village. There is also a nurse practitioner that visits most days of the week.

Yes, on most days. But we are currently building more dining options to make these food options more readily available to those with specific dietary needs!

Yes. The property tax amount is built into your monthly fee. This amount is for your apartment only not for common spaces or any unoccupied apartments.

Yes. We have a program called the Estate Preservation Program which allows you to pay by the month. It is NOT a lifecare contract. These contracts are limited, so be sure to give us a call to see if we have availability.

Bay Village does not have to evacuate. Our building has Miami-Dade rated hurricane windows, a freshwater well, and generators to power most of the building.

You, your physician, your family, or a designated person will decide.

Nope! We don’t expect tips here.

Absolutely not. You are in control of your own finances.

Hear From Residents

See what residents are saying about Bay Village

“Since I only moved to Bay Village very recently I had no idea what to expect during a weather event. I was so impressed by the way this terrible situation was managed and how well the residents were cared for. There were few road bumps and our lives went on, even as many in Florida suffered terrible losses. But I was most impressed by how Bay Village cared for their employees; many stayed over in the building along with their family members and even their pets. I am proud to be a member of this outstanding community and would highly recommend Bay Village.”

- Judy H., Bay Village Resident

“A very big thank you to all of you (BV staff) for taking such good care of us during these last exciting weeks (hurricane). We have felt very safe and cared for. The “updates”, food and willingness of staff to help and bring smiles at Bay Village was very comforting. We have been here for a little over one year now and know we made the right move – at the right time. We are comfortable and happy in our new home. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making Bay Village, ‘The Best’!!”

- Ron & Mary, Bay Village Resident

“We like Bay Village because of the people-friendly residents and smiling staff members! We have made many truly great new friendships since moving here! Absolutely no regrets!”

- Tony & Mary Beth, Bay Village Resident

“Bill and I moved to Bay Village to live a more carefree life. We enjoy the fitness classes, playing games with fellow residents, and not having to cook dinner every night. The grounds are lovely and the interior is open and bright. We are glad we chose Bay Village.”

- Bill & Kate, Bay Village Resident

“Bay Village has exceeded our expectations from the opportunity to make our apartment a home; the helpfulness of the staff in the transition; AND the warm welcome by the residents at Bay Village. We are making many new friends and enjoying the health and wellness programs that will keep up happy and healthy. It was a great decision for both of us.”

- Mike & Nancy, Bay Village Resident

“When I started to think about giving up my condo, BAY VILLAGE was my first choice. There are many nice senior living facilities in the area, and over the years, I had visited them all. I have been a resident for a year now, and do not regret my move. I really love my apartment, the residents are very friendly, the staff is great, and they all know my name. Just like “CHEERS”.”

- Lew D., Bay Village Resident

“Our move here was one of the best decisions we ever made. Bay Village has everything we need for a comfortable, productive retirement. What appeals most to us is the friendly, welcoming atmosphere of both staff and residents. We are truly happy here. Life is exciting!”

- Nate & Winnie, Bay Village Resident

“The friendliness and positive attitude of the community, both residents and staff have made our move to Bay Village a happy one. Wellness classes, programs, entertainment and services that enhance our independent lifestyle are a plus. As 2nd generation Bay Village residents, we appreciate the knowledge that our life care contract will continue to provide good care, security and safety as we age. And let me not forget to mention the wonderful view from our apartment! ”

- Ted & Judy, Bay Village Resident

“The main reason we know we made the right choice by moving to Bay Village has been the friendliness of everyone here, especially the staff, who are not only highly professional people, but truly concerned about the well-being of all the residents. We’ve also enjoyed all the conveniences of living at Bay Village. Almost everything we need is here under one roof, so there’s no problem when it’s raining, freezing or sweltering outside.”

- Chris & Bob, Bay Village Resident

“For us Bay Village is our cruise ship- enjoy all the amenities and activities without leaving here. We decide whether our day will be active or laid back. Upon moving in, we were introduced to a new “family” consisting of both residents and staff. Our physical, mental, and social needs are met here at BV. Upon moving in to our apartment, our shroud of worries melted away, replaced be a serene confidence that we have found the right place.”

- Dan & Hilda, Bay Village Resident

“After a couple of years searching, we chose Bay Village for many reasons-welcoming community, high resident satisfaction, low employee turnover, extensive health services, wide range of activities, and food-all of which have far surpassed our expectations, yes, even the food. In just a few months after moving in, we have many new friends, our daily routines are livelier and our health is improving. As you see, we are very satisfied.”

- Bob & Wanda, Bay Village Resident

“To the entire staff at Bay Village, (during the hurricane) I felt completely safe, was well fed, was cooled by air conditioning in my apartment and even able to watch TV. One day after the storm’s fury had passed, so much debris had been moved off walking paths so we could be outside safely. Eric’s timely updates kept us informed and reassured. Kudos also to the many residents who helped so many others residents. I knew Bay Village was a good choice when we came here but now I know it was a great one!”

- Jo B., Bay Village Resident
