St. Petersburg Trio Performs!
We are thrilled to welcome this group to the Bay Village stage for the very first time. The concert is on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. The talented members of the St. Petersburg Trio met while attending the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, one of the premier institutions in Russia for postgraduate education in music. Svetlana Nikova, dorma, has been the conductor of the Washington Balalaika Society orchestra since 2003, when she moved to Virginia. She arranges most of the music the orchestra plays, and is the principal arranger for the Trio. Vladimir Zakharevich, a native of Minsk, Belarus, plays the bayan, a member of the accordion family with rows of buttons rather than the more familiar piano keyboard. He has performed extensively in Europe.
Andrey Saveliev, who plays contrabass balalaika with the Trio, is considered the foremost soloist in America on prima balalaika. At conservatory he was exposed to the work of Russia’s master composer and arranger for the balalaika, Alexander Shavlov, which beautifully showcases Shavlov’s distinctive side. They will sell CDs following the show!
ALSO, Chef Chris has created a Russian Chef’s Special tonight to get you in the mood for the concert!

This holiday season, let us all make an effort to stay fit and healthy. Celebrating the holidays comes with a lot of extra calories for a lot of us and also with being a little less active.
The weather is cooler and it calls for nice walks or bicycle rides on the premises or in the neighborhood. A walk in the mall is a wonderful way to get some extra steps in for the day.
Our pool is beautiful to look at, heated to a comfortable temperature and very beneficial when used. The Ping-Pong tables are open for anyone to use and playing is good exercise and fun. We have Women’s and Men’s Shuffleboard an a regular basis. Try a new class this season and bring a friend with you!
On Dec. 11, we are heading to the Ringling Bridge to walk the bridge and have breakfast afterwards. Join in all the activities and live it up!!!
