I looked back at my notes from a year ago to see how Bay Village was operating then due to the Covid-19 pandemic that was sweeping the country. At that time operations on our campus were in a much more “locked down” state then they are this year. The vaccine and the Sarasota County positivity rates declining has afforded the opportunity for Bay Village to slowly and responsibly open up over the past few weeks. We still are not back to where the campus was in February 2020 but there is some light at the end of this pandemic tunnel. I also got to thinking how fortunate our campus has been on keeping the virus off of it. I believe in the combination of good planning, hard work, teamwork, and a little luck all mixed together helped to keep everyone safe during the past year. The Director Team came together to figure out what all needed to be done to keep us safe. The countless hours on conference calls, with Leading Age Florida, to get the most recent information about the virus and to assist us in interpreting the 350 plus directives, sometimes in conflict with one another, that came our way from Federal, State, and the local governments (all those directives was enough to make one’s head spin!) The employees did what was necessary and asked of them without hesitation. It was an intense year but one that has seen the leadership and staff grow as it met the challenges of the virus. I hope a year from now Bay Village and our country will be operating normally or at least what will be a new normal.
I wish you and your family a very Happy Easter!
