Last month the construction documents for our memory care household and the renovations of Bay Village went into the county for permitting. This will be a months- long process to be able to receive a permit for either of these projects. The plan on moving forward during this pandemic will be to secure the memory care permit and begin its construction once Bay Village has secured the permit. This could be as early as December of this year or first of next year. Since the memory care site sits away from the main campus, construction can begin since residents and Bay Village staff will not be in close proximity to the construction workers. It will take roughly a year to build the memory care household, which will be named The Tides at Bay Village.
In looking into my crystal ball for the main campus renovation, I do not see this happening until we can get past this pandemic which hopefully will be sometime next year. I believe we need to have a vaccine in place to be able to keep everyone safe on campus- residents, staff, and the many contractors it will take to work on the renovations. I have told many residents that I hope that by next summer there is a vaccine in place to be able to eradicate this virus. At that point it will be safe to begin the renovations of the main campus.
