Through the years, many residents have told me that as one gets older time goes by faster. I completely understand this, as this past year has quickly sped by for me! It was a year ago on May 1st that I started working here at Bay Village. A lot has happened during this year, which in my mind seems like only a few months ago. I vividly remember that first day of settling into my new, temporary office and meeting several residents out by the coffee area. That very same day, I settled on the home in Venice that Sheila and our four teacup poodles and I live in, had a quick lunch with my dad (who helped us move from Maryland) after settlement, and then back to Bay Village to finish out my day. That seems like yesterday!
Much has happened since that first day on the job. I have met the wonderful residents and staff who make up Bay Village. I experienced my first (and hopefully last!) hurricane when Irma came to town. When I arrived, there were 25 open apartments and now there are only three remaining. Wi-Fi has been installed, as well as Digital signage and a new TV station. Staff are now receiving their pay remittances on the internet, saving paper and envelopes each month. And lastly, I have seen the generosity of the residents here at Bay Village by raising large funds for the employee Christmas gift.
The above items cover some of the highlights during this past year, but it is certainly not complete. I would need several pages for that list! I am looking forward to my second year here at Bay Village. Now, if I could only slow down those hands of time!
