About Bay Village of Sarasota
Bay Village of Sarasota, Inc. is a Florida not-for-profit corporation organized to own and operate a retirement community. The corporation owns the land, buildings, and all the assets of the community.
Rather than stockholders, the corporation has “members” of the congregants of Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, which established Bay Village on Christian principles in 1972.
The sole function of the members is to elect the corporation Board of Directors. The Directors, who serve voluntarily without compensation, are responsible for goal setting, policy making, standard setting, program evaluation, and fiscal management of Bay Village.
The Board of Directors employs an Executive Director, who manages the day-to-day operations of Bay Village of Sarasota.
Established on Christian principles, Bay Village of Sarasota, Inc. offers a dynamic, secure and comprehensive residency for older adults, providing meaningful community life with continuing care.
The vision of Bay Village of Sarasota, Inc. through 2018 (5 years) is to:
- Strive to achieve the highest quality of service to our residents.
- Extend effective dialogue between residents and staff.
- Promote the efforts of staff and residents to build a caring community.
- Balance net operating revenues and financial reserves so that we may have the financial strength to maintain our infrastructure, provide our staff with a competitive compensation and benefit package and have the capability to retire our long term debt.
Retirement Community Accreditation
Bay Village of Sarasota has been fully accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC) since 1987. Bay Village is the only CCAC-accredited retirement community in Sarasota County. Our voluntary accreditation demonstrates that we highly value you and your loved ones. CCAC was founded in 1985, as the nation’s only accreditor of continuing care retirement communities and aging services networks.
Accreditation is a roadmap that guides our focus and our commitment to continuously improve our service quality. We have made a pledge to enhance the quality of our services and programs to prove that our focus is on your satisfaction.
We chose to become accredited in addition to meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. This means we conform to proven business practices, employee training, information management and continuous quality improvement planning. Each year, we must submit an Annual Conformance to Quality Report to prove our adherence to the standards and maintain our accreditation.
Bay Village of Sarasota is regulated by Chapter 651 of the Florida Statutes, through the Florida Department of Financial Services as well as the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
