On December 6th, join me for a walk in downtown Venice, followed by dinner at Cafe Venice and then we’ll enjoy the beautiful Christmas Lights on Venice Avenue and surrounding area. Instead of walking, you can also use the time to go Christmas shopping in quaint downtown Venice.
On December 24th, I will offer a Christmas Workout at 10 am in the auditorium, followed by seasonal refreshments. The workout will consist of different elements from all the classes I am teaching and anybody/all levels of fitness can participate. Come in Christmas colors or outfits.
On another note, please use control when exercising on the machines in the Wellness Center. You should not hear any noise from banging the weights. It is not good for the machine and your joints! Use a weight that you can control pushing and pulling.
Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy
We’ve only got one show booked at the wonderful Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. On January 11th, we’ll begin with dinner at a new restaurant, “The Oyster Bar,” featuring oysters prepared every way imaginable.
Proclaimed to be “The greatest spectacle east of Vegas” by New York Magazine, Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy has performed over 2,000 shows since 2007!
They performed on Broadway for a while (the first show of its kind there), becoming a “must see” sensation as the New York Times described it as “jaw-dropping.”
The show has also won numerous awards for costume design. The show is described as an “exotic encounter inspired by nature’s unpredictable creations” that are brought to life by a cast of soaring aerialists, spine-bending contortionists, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. This, combined with striking visual effects, make this show an unforgettable experience! We depart Bay Village at 3:30 p.m. and we will be home around 11:00 p.m. We have great seats! The cost for transportation and your ticket is $71. Dinner at “The Oyster Bar” is “on your own.”
EVERYONE thoroughly enjoyed our last class from Sarasota County Adult & Community Education! The instructor for this, Dr. David Maino, is a fantastic speaker (he got a round of applause after each class! Wow!), and we are happy to report that he has other topics that he teaches. Your B.I.L.L. committee will choose what he will present next and we’ll let you know when it will start.
Bill Crowe, whose computer classes are also provided by Adult & Community Education, will return in January. He’s teaching a digital photography class this time. If you have trouble organizing, sharing & posting your photos, you’ll want to sign up for this class! Please bring your digital camera or smart phone to class. We will have limited space! As usual, class is free if you live by Bay Village.
On Tuesday, December 6th, we will begin part 3 of “Essential Italy,” the DVD from The Teaching Company everyone has been enjoying so much! Join us each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. This is the final part for that class and it is six weeks long, taking us into 2017.
